Introduction;
                 The house of scorpions is a very suspenseful and dark story about a clone named Matt that lives in a word controlled by a drug lord. This drug lord is named El Patron and Matt is a clone of him, Matt was created to have his organs harvested for El Patron later on in the future if needed. In the beginning of the novel Matt lives secluded with a caretaker named Celia. Celia is a maid for the rich  Alacrán family, which El Patron is a member of. Later on Matt is moves and lives in a big house on the Alacrán's estate in Opium. When Matt live there his life starts to go in a little darker direction, he starts to feel lonely, isolated and imprisoned. Near the middle of the book Matt meets a girl named Marie and tam Lin his mentor/bodyguard, they all help Matt escape from opium and they Tavel to Aztlán (Mexico). By the end of the book Matt has been through a lot some near death experiences which really helps Matt and the other come together as friends/alies. Matt finally makes it to safety with María and her mother Esperanza, who is heavily involved in politics and protests in Opium. Will Matt undo the damage the ruthless El Patrón did during his rule? Please Read the book to find out.
At the beginning I really didn't want to read this book but as I started to read it I just kept on want more, it's a very good read the story is very interesting and the author Nancy Farmer is creative for coming up with an interesting story like this.

               In The house of scorpions remind me of the movie tangled. Tangled is about a young girl named Rapunzel that is trapped in a tower by a women, that say she's Rapunzel mother but really took her from her birth parents at birth. Rapunzel has magic hair that make who ever touches it younger or heals them. Soon she comes across a con man named Flynn rider who discovers her in the tower and helps her escape and see the world. I find the house of scorpions and tangled are similar because they both have young characters, they both heal or help their caretaker or master stay young and healthy, they escaped from there prisons/homes to discover the world and live a normal live and lastly they meet that special someone that helped them have the courage to leave the homes and do what's right. Those are some similar traits and character that The house of scorpions and tangled share.
The mood in the house of scorpions is peaceful, calm because at the beginning of the book Matt is young and curious ,so it really seems like a normal life. As you got closer to the ending of the book things started to get dark, edgy, suspenseful and nerve-racking because that's when Matt is fourteen starts to be more curious and discover a few dark secrets that Celia never told him.
